History The first and largest of the Korean martial arts academies after the Japanese occupation of Korea was the Chung Do Kwan school in Seoul, founded by Grandmaster Won Kuk Lee. Our studio directly descends from the original Chung Do Kwan school in Seoul, Korea through our grandteacher, Master Duk Kyung Choi. Master Choi was the head instructor at the Chung Do Kwan studio in Seoul for nine years and was many times a Korean national Tae Kwon Do champion. Master Choi came to the United States in 1969 and founded the Chung Do Kwan school in Washington, D.C. We are proud to continue Master Choi's traditional style of Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do into the 21st century.
